Annoucing that the American Knabstrupper Association is now a formal REGISTRY!

November 4, 2005

I am very pleased to announce that with the assistance of so many of you on this list, the AKA has formally become a registry. So many of you wanted to promote your horses and help more people become knowledgable about them that we just decided this was the way to go.

As you know, the RPSI has been wonderful in setting up a Knabstrupper book so that we can get these wonderful horses inspected and registered, but they have not shown any interest in promoting them. We are NOT trying to usurp the RPSI! They play an incredibly valuable role. So, for the time being, AKA will act as a secondary registry for those Knabstruppers already registered with RPSI and/or KNN or any other European or UK registered Knabstrupper.

We have set up AKA as a recognized part of the USDF year end awards beginning in 2006. So, any of your horses that are registered with AKA can declare under that association and gain the recognition you deserve. We also plan to host classes at some of the main breed shows and have booths at the big expos.

At the moment, we have most of the Knabstruppers now in the U.S. as members and we urge the rest to register your horses now. If your Knabstrupper is already properly registered with another valid Knabstrupper registry, cost is only $50. Please see the website for full details. The by-laws and breeding and registration rules are now online.

We are also offering a Half-Knabstrupper registration for those of you who have bred your unapproved mares to an approved Knabstrupper stallion. Much like the Arabian registry did so many years ago, we want to bring into the fold ALL the Knabstrupper horses, whether properly registered or half breeds.

We appreciate your support and look forward to giving this wonderful breed the exposure and promotion it deserves.

Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
